
Musical Theatre
The Musical Theatre days will take place on Saturday 28th February and Sunday 1st March 2026 at RGS Worcester. Luise Horrocks and Emma Winscom will be adjudicating and we will once again have workshops from West End Theatre Workshops on the Sunday and an exciting Acting Through Song workshop from Gracie Wyatt. Entries for the competitive and non-competitive performances are now closed, but the workshops remain open until all places are filled. Workshop places are limited, so book early!
Saturday Acting Through Song Workshop
Saturday 28th Feb 26, noon – 2pm at RGS
£15 or Special Offer of £25 if a Sunday workshop is booked too (saving £10)
1 hour of Phantom, then 1 hour of working on your own song (bring sheet music +/or a backing track).

Sunday Workshops



The Sunday WCAF 2025 musical theatre workshops are for all ages and abilities - No experience necessary! The Senior workshop will focus on songs from Moulin Rouge, the Intermediate workshop will focus on songs from School of Rock and the Junior workshop will focus on Wicked.
The workshops will be led by Billy Mitchell from West End Theatre Workshops who has appeared in all these shows on the West End! The workshops will focus on singing for musical theatre, working on acting through song and movement. All workshops will take place on Sunday 1st March.
Senior (school yr 10+): 12:00-13:50 (including a 20 minute Q&A session about auditions and preparing for life on the West End - open to all)

Intermediate (school yrs 7-9): 14:00-15:30

Junior (up to school year 6): 15:45-17:00
The workshops will run alongside the competitive classes and we will ensure that competitors are able to compete without clashes.
Our Adjudicators

Luise Horrocks
After studies at Oxford University and the Royal College of Music, Luise’s career as a professional Soprano soloist took her throughout the UK, Europe, America and South Africa. While specialising primarily in Oratorio, she also gave many Song Recitals and appeared on the opera stage at Buxton Opera House. Her several recordings and BBC broadcasts included performances of Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation and works by Goehr.
Luise has held teaching positions in both the Junior and Senior departments of the Birmingham Conservatoire and as a visiting lecturer at Birmingham University. She has worked as a Vocal Coach on several residential courses for singers and as a mentor on the CT ABRSM teacher training course. She has also coached and conducted the Wyre Forest Young Voices choir.
As Associate Chief Examiner in Music for Trinity College, London for many years, Luise travelled extensively and worked on syllabus setting and leading projects for diplomas, examiner training and teacher support. Now working as a freelance consultant, she continues to have special responsibility for singing at Trinity. Publications include a set of books of Musical Theatre repertoire in collaboration with colleague John Gardyne, choosing songs and writing the teaching notes for a new set of graded song books and recently, compiling two books of diploma songs. In 2016 she was awarded an Hon TCL.
Luise runs an extensive private teaching practice and regularly gives masterclasses, choral workshops, presentations and teacher sessions both at home and abroad. She has recently been appointed as the singing teacher at Keble College, Oxford and has also qualified as a Vocal First Aider.
She is a highly experienced adjudicator member of the British & International Federation of Festivals and was privileged to be an adjudicator for the inaugural Olga and Jules Craen Young Musician of the Year award in Mumbai, India and for the first Maltese Islands Festival in Valletta, Malta as well as adjudicating and running workshops at the Singapore Performing Arts Festival.

​Emma Winscom
Emma Winscom is a professional singer, singing teacher and composer. She is a former Chair of the British Voice Association’s Education Working Party and is the current representative of the Independent Society of Musicians in Hereford and Worcester. Emma is a mezzocontralto and
regularly performs a wide range of music. Emma has teaching practices in Worcestershire and London and is in great demand for her tailored teaching approach, having trained around 3,500 singers. Amongst her specialisms are adolescent female singers, multigenre teaching, clientspecific voice coaching and singers with Downs Syndrome and she has delivered papers and workshops on each of these at international conferences (BVA and AOTOS). In 2023, she also presented at the Fourth International Conference On Women’s Work In Music. Emma has a 100% client vocal health record and welcomes dysphonic singers from outside her practice for rehabilitative vocal work. Emma is also a Mental Health First Aider.
