Music Ensembles
We love to have groups of musicians performing at WCAF and this year we are excited to welcome adjudicators from Music For Youth as we are once again a local festival for them. Ensembles performing at the Music day on Saturday 7th March at WCAF this year will automatically be considered for the national Music for Youth festival.

Ensembles may contain any combination of instruments, including (but not exclusively) voice. They may be small (3-10 people) or large (11 people+). Any style of music is encouraged in the general music ensemble sections, but ensembles may also wish to consider entry into the Rock and Pop or Jazz sections, where appropriate. Ensembles of only one type of instrument (i.e. brass, strings or woodwind) may also wish to enter the ensemble classes within specific sections of the syllabus.
Entries MUST be made online via Play&Perform.
Special classes
All large and small group entries are FREE and all solos, duets, trios and quartet entries have 25% off the entry fees if completed by 1st December 2025.
We do not believe any enthusiastic performer should miss out on WCAF because of financial concerns or additional needs. We want to make taking part as easy as possible and to ensure we include everyone who wants to take part. Please contact admin@wcaf.org.uk to discuss any accessibility requirements or to discover more about free places.

There are several special classes that performers may also wish to enter:
-
More advanced performers may wish to enter the William Lewis Recital class. Entrants to this class should prepare a 15-minute recital of 2 or more contrasting pieces.
-
The Marian Baker memorial class is another recital class for which a minimum standard of Grade 6 on two contrasting pieces is required.
-
The Sproule class is for performers up to the age of 15. Entrants must perform a poem or an acted scene AND a song or a piece of music on any instrument.
